I once had a buddy tell me that I was, "the most laid back, tense, easy going, uptight guy", he'd ever met. I think he was right. I definitely take my work very seriously and can sometimes bring it home; but doing things right on the fireline and teaching firefighters is something I take pride in. When it's time to relax I take that pretty seriously as well. I appreciate all kinds of people and backgrounds, but I don't tolerate amplified egos, lying, and people that betray trust. I like to have good time, even at work, but when it's time to get a job done, I expect we all buckle down and get at it.

I'm not wrapped up in being a fire guy; it's just a job. I do talk a lot of fire talk, but in no way do I think I'm a hero. Somebody needs to manage fire and I'm just lucky enough to be able to do that. I really enjoy being in the woods (especially on a fire), and talking and teaching fire to younger firefighters.

In my off time I like spending time with friends, hitting the hills for a Jeep ride, taking the dogs to the creek, or working on things at my cabin. At one point in my life I was a goldsmith, and still enjoy creating jewelry. During the winter, I love building my ice rink and "playing" hockey (I'm no Wayne Gretzky, but I bet he'd like my ice). My first ride was a 1951 Willys Jeep Wagon. I caught the Jeep bug then, when I was fourteen, and have had it since. I love working on my Jeep, Power Wagon, and cars in general. I love problem solving and coming up with solutions, even if they're weird and unorthodox, which is a must as a Jeep owner. I try to think as my days off, or anytime time off of work, as "vacation" so whatever happens is just an adventure.

I really don't have aspirations to meet the love of my life; I thought I had that once and was totally betrayed. I'd really like to meet nice people, hopefully hang out and get to know them, go do fun things, and enjoy those moments. Life is just a collection of memories, good and bad, and I'd like to add a whole lot more good ones to my collection. If I found a great connection down the road I'd certainly be interested in making a hell of a lot of great memories.
